Extreme Poker at InterPoker

InterPoker have come up with an innovative new way to attract young players away from the more youth orientated brands that dominate….. Extreme Poker.
The idea is to ‘test the physical and mental limits’ of players by making them play tournaments in unusually tough and hostile environments. It all started in 2005.
In 2005 they held the first ever Deep Water Series of Poker, which took place at St Kitts in the Caribbean. Players were knocked out for running out of chips, running out of air or surfacing. The eventual winner was Juha Helppi.
In early 2006 Juha was allowed to pick the location and went for the Arctic Ice Shelf in Finland. The gaming was outside in brutal -20C temperatures and if you were knocked out in the first 30minutes the only way to buy back in was to play in your t-shirt. Rob Verkonyi won after an hour and a half, having played most the game in his t-shirt.
In July 2006 the game was played from a plane and anyone who got knocked out was thrown from the plane to parachute down. The winner, who voluntarily jumped from a plane later that day, was Nick Grudzien.
Since then Extreme Poker has branched out. To check it out click here.
