We love a whimsical bet. Something out of the ordinary and different. And here at Gambling Source we have found our alternative amusement for the day in the form of Paddy Power.

Here are three of our favourite unusual bets.

3. CEO sack race

It’s been a tough financial year and plenty of big companies have
been feeling the pinch. Which will be the next to sack their head honcho? The odds offered are:

5/2 Willie Walsh – BA
3/1 Giles Thorley – Punch Taverns
9/2 Eric Daniels – Lloyds
6/1 John Browett – DSG
6/1 John Condron – Yell
8/1 Michael Queen – 3i
8/1 Stephen Hester – RBS
12/1 Mark Clare – Barratt
14/1 Peter Redfern – Taylor Wimpey
25/1 Terry Leahy – Tesco
33/1 Justin King – Sainsbury

We’ll be putting all our eggs in the Eric Daniels basket. So long sucker.

2. Twits leaving twitter

As plenty of celebrities have found out, advertising your business on Twitter isn’t always a great idea. Who will be the next to leave? The odds offered are:

4/1 John Cleese
5/1 Andy Murray
6/1 Russell Brand
8/1 Alan Carr
10/1 Graeme Swann
10/1 Jonathan Ross
12/1 Boris Johnson
18/1 Philip Schofield
20/1 Ashton Kutcher

This is a tough one, Ashton and Russell are staying where they are so we’re going for the sulky Andy Murray on this one.

WANT TO BET ON THIS? GET AN ACCOUNT AT PADDY POWER TODAY

1. Doomsday Clock Movements:

This is far and away our favourite. The Doomsday clock has recently moved back a minute, so apparently we should all be very optimistic. Where do you think it will go next? The bets offered are:

Next Doomsday Clock Change
2/5 Closer to Midnight
7/4 Further from Midnight

Time of Doomsday Clock after Change
50/1 Midnight
33/1 1 Minute to Midnight
12/1 2 Minutes to Midnight
6/1 3 Minutes to Midnight
5/2 4 Minutes to Midnight
11/8 5 Minutes to Midnight
4/1 7 Minutes to Midnight
6/1 8 Minutes to Midnight
16/1 9 Minutes to Midnight
20/1 10 Minutes to Midnight

When will the clock be changed again?
8/1 2010
9/2 2011
7/2 2012
3/1 2013
11/4 2014
5/2 2015 or later

This is a tough one to call. We’re going to say closer to Midnight, 5 minutes to Midnight and it will happen next year.

Manny Pacquiao, widely accepted as the best boxer in the world, is a matured fighter with amazing skills and an incredibly tactical mind.

Ricky Hatton is the classic underdog, his aggression, single-mindedness and stereotypical mancunian attitude make him a challenge for even the best fighters.

The fight between the two giants is a tough match. It is reminiscent of Hattons stand againt Mayweather. Pacquiao is a quick opponent, light footed and agile. His powerful left straights and right hooks are the stuff of legend. Hatton is at his best in close quarters and throws heavy body blows and left hooks.

RICKY HATTON v MANNY PACQUIAO ODDS AND BETTING

If, as with Mayweather, Hatton gets drawn into a match at distance, he will lose. It is a pace he cannot match as his temper will almost definitely be his downfall. SkyBet give a Pacquiao win odds of 1/2.

However, if Hatton manages to keep in close, preventing those nimble feet of Paquiao’s coming into play, then Hatton might just defeat the odds. SkyBet give a Hatton win odds of 6/4.

The second season of the Indian Premier League kicks off on Saturday April 18th with Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians. Here we preview the odds for the tournament and pick out some of the better teams on view.

BEST INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE ODDS – TO WIN IPL

Delhi Daredevils: 9/2 at Ladbrokes – Click To Bet

INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE TIPS AND BETTING

Rajasthan Royals : Captain : Shane Warne

Despite winning the IPL last year, the Rajasthan Royals are far from favourites for this year’s tournament.

Shorn of their impressive Pakistani players this time round, the Royals have done everything in their power to recruit like for like replacements and if Warne can get them going, they could still be a threat.

Bangalore Royal Challengers

Last time out Bangalore were, frankly, rubbish. The side wasn’t suited at all to the Twenty20 format and they won only 4 matches.

This time around the introduction of England’s Kevin Pietersen, exciting New Zealander Jesse Ryder and no less than four South Africans, they definitely have the cutting edge and could win.

Delhi Daredevils

Joint favourites along with the Chennai SuperKings, but the Daredevils have the edge with Glenn McGrath’s bowling and England’s top Twenty20 batsman Paul Collingwood.

Plus they have swashbuckling batsman Virender Sehwag who was a relevation in the last IPL tournament.

Neither Bradford Bulls nor Warrington Wolves have been in good form so far in this Super League season, but with Wolves missing Lee Brier and assistant manager James Lowes has insisted that players won’t be risked unnecessarily.

This could mean Warrington are also without Chris Riley, Paul Rauhihi and Vinnie Anderson.

BRADFORD v WARRINGTON ODDS AND BETTING TIPS : KICK-OFF : FRI APR 17th 20:00 GMT

Bradford lost narrowly to fourth place Wakefield last time out and look fractionally stronger than Wolves, so a narrow victory for the home side seems the most likely outcome.

They’ve got me at it again – predicting this Thursday’s Premier League darts clashes in the ‘probably the most pointless darts competition in the world’.

Anyway, this week’s line up includes two matches for the utterly out of form Wayne Mardle – one against Jelle Klaasen and one against The Power himself, plus James Wade v Terry Jenkins, which, frankly, could go either way and Mervyn King v Barney.

TOP DARTS BETTING TIPS : THURSDAY APRIL 16th from 19:00 GMT

Ignoring Wade vs Jenkins which is too close to call, I like Mardle to lose both of his matches. The guy is a better dart player than Klaasen (who isn’t) but he hasn’t been showing any kind of form or confidence, winning an average of only 3 legs per match in his last six outings.

Take Klaasen to win at a best price 10/11 at Paddy Power and buy yourself a pint out of your Phil Taylor winnings – 1/12 at BlueSq PLUS A FREE £25 Bet For New Customers .

Why do I get all the rubbish jobs. First Premier League darts, and now the Monte Carlo Masters.

Don’t get me wrong, I like tennis. I even know a bit about it. For instance, I know that Nadal has won this clay court tournament four years in a row and I also know that he will win it this time.

You can look at the odds (1/3 at BlueSquare ) as being poor or you can look at it like a 30% return on your investment in a week. Either way, you should be backing Nadal to win this.

He has no peer on the surface and with Roger Federer spitting out his dummy more and more recently, only a fool would back against him.

Let’s forget about Andy Murray for this one. He’s lined up to play Nadal in the quarters (should he get that far) so that will be the end of that.
