Why do I get all the rubbish jobs. First Premier League darts, and now the Monte Carlo Masters.

Don’t get me wrong, I like tennis. I even know a bit about it. For instance, I know that Nadal has won this clay court tournament four years in a row and I also know that he will win it this time.

You can look at the odds (1/3 at BlueSquare ) as being poor or you can look at it like a 30% return on your investment in a week. Either way, you should be backing Nadal to win this.

He has no peer on the surface and with Roger Federer spitting out his dummy more and more recently, only a fool would back against him.

Let’s forget about Andy Murray for this one. He’s lined up to play Nadal in the quarters (should he get that far) so that will be the end of that.

SELECTED MONTE CARLO MASTERS BETTING ODDS

The 2009 US Mens Clay Court Championship is, frankly, not usually an event that, personally, I would bet on. Mainly because I’d never heard of it before now.

However, with seeded players James Blake, Mardy Fish, Jeremy Chardy, Maximo Gonzalez and Jurgen Melzer all out, this is one tennis tournament that has potential for a decent sized win. And that’s what we all want, right?

As at the time of writing this, the tournament is at the second round stage.

The player with the best form right now is Spaniard and clay court specialist Guillermo Garcia-Lopez who put out fourth seed Jeremy Chardy 6-1, 6-0 in the last round.

However, Garcia-Lopez faces a revitalisted Lleyton Hewitt in the quarter final.

That having been said, Garcia-Lopez has the game to get past Hewitt and at 10/1 with Bet365, it’s worth betting a few shiny coins on the Spaniard to win the whole thing.

The top four seeds at the BNP Paribas Open Tennis tournment in Indian Wells are all looking strong right now.

With Rafael Nadal only losing 3 matches in his 2nd round tie and defending champion Novak Djokovic cruising through to the 3rd Round, it looks likely that the winner will come from these two.

Or, of course, from Roger Federer or Andy Murray, both of whom are already through to the 4th round.

However, Federer has struggled a little in the tournament, while Murray has been ill and a little laboured.

With Federer only recently back on the tour after back problems and Murray not quite firing on all cylinders, it’s got to be Nadal or Djokovic to win Indian Wells.
