Fabio Capello’s squad for England’s friendly against Brazil this week has shaken up Paddy Power’s World Cup Ladder betting on who will make the final squad to next summer’s tournament.

With just two games to go for the national team before Capello names his squad, there isn’t much time for the fringe players to impress the Italian. However, some big names are out of the match with Brazil this week so it’s a definite chance for the likes of Stephen Warnock and Tom Huddlestone.

ODDS AND BETTING ON WHO WILL BE IN THE ENGLAND WORLD CUP SQUAD

Forwards In Favour

Up front Emile Heskey’s inability to hit a barn door for Villa has seemingly improved the chances for the other hopeful strikers with Darren Bent, in the squad to face Brazil this week, cut from 5/1 to 11/8 to go to South Africa.

Carlton Cole is now odds on at 4/5 to make the trip from 5/4 and Heskey’s Villa team mate Gabby Agbonlahor has been cut from 7/2 to 6/5.

Milner For Midfield

Amongst the midfielders James Milner’s versatility looks to have made him an increasing certainty with his odds coming in from 5/4 to 8/11 whilst Owen Hargreaves, close to ending his long injury lay off, has been tempting punters enough to have his odds cut from 4/1 to 15/8. Newcomer to the squad Tom Huddlestone is 10/1 to make a late-run all the way to South Africa.

Defence

Finally in defence, Stephen Warnock’s call up has cut his odds to make Fabio’s 23 from 4/1 to 2/1 with Gary Cahill also entering the betting at 11/2. But Gary Neville’s 85 cap England career could be all but over as the Man Utd right-back drifts from 5/1 to 7/1.

Riding high in World Cup qualifying Group Nine, Holland have to face Scotland at the Amsterdam Arena and, personally, I’m not expecting any surprises.

Scotland have no less than 10 players out injured, including key men such as Alan Hutton, striker James McFadden and David Weir.

The Netherlands, by contrast, have no such worries, with forwards Dirk Kuyt, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Robin Van Persie all fit.

HOLLAND v SCOTLAND PREVIEW : KICK-OFF : SAT MAR 28th 19: 45 GMT

With so many Scotland players sidelined, it looks likely that Scotland manager George Burley will play a 4-5-1 formation with Kenny Miller starting upfront on his own.

Hearts defender Christophe Berra will partner Gary Caldwell in the centre of defence in the absence of David Weir and Stephen McManus, while Rangers ‘keeper Allan McGregor gets the nod ahead of Sunderland’s Craig Gordon.

For Dutch manager Bert van Marwijk, there are no such injury worries.

Even fragile winger Arjen Robben appears fit and will start for Holland while Ajax’s Maarten Stekelenburg is the preferred number 1.

HOLLAND v SCOTLAND BETTING TIPS

I can’t see anything other than a convincing Netherlands win here, by at least two goals.

Huntelaar and Robben have been on fire for Real Madrid this term and they have too much pace and guile for what is a very inexperienced Scotland back line.

Burley’s decision to play one upfront looks like damage limitation rather than a cunning plan, so Holland to win this one.

Repeat after your uncle Vinnie. It’s never too early to have a punt on the World Cup Finals. OK? Again? It’s never too early to have a punt on the World Cup Finals.

Even if it is two years away and the team you think might win it haven’t even qualified yet.

But, so what, right? That’s the nature of gambling. You’re taking a risk. And the risk you wanna be taking is on Argentina to win the 2010 World Cup.

Yup, that Argentina. The one managed by Maradona – crazy drug crazed fool that he was.

And, let’s face it, Maradona is still crazy. He’s inexperienced as a manager. He’s unpredictable. He’s really not the best qualified man for the job.

But, that’s exactly why you should back Argentina to win the 2010 World Cup.

The current best odds are at Eurobet (6.5 or 11/2 if you prefer fractions) – so what are you waiting for? Place a Bet Now !

What, you want some supporting data? Don’t be so boring. Just take that £20 note out of your pocket and lend it to a bookie for a couple of years and they’ll give you more back.

ARGENTINA WORLD CUP BETTING ODDS

Lionel Messi. Carlos Tevez. Javier Mascherano. Martin Demichelis (at Bayern), Fernando Gaga (at Real). There are top quality players throughout the Argentina team and they’ll all the right kind of age to peak for 2010.

Even Jonas Gutierrez looks good when playing for Argentina – mind you, it must be a relief not having to play for Newcastle Utd.

I know, I know. It’s early days, so if you haven’t got the guts to put money on Argentina to win the 2010 World Cup, stick some money on them each way.

In fact, go one better at Unibet, who will give you 2.60 (that’s 8/5 for you traditionalists) on Argentina to place 1-3. Can’t be bad – Bet at Unibet Now.

And when the World Cup Final rolls out, just remember to say ‘thank you, Vinnie’. OK?
